We are still picking black currants but we are getting closer and closer to the end of the field. The window for fresh currants is closing quickly so get them while you can…
We are also coming to the end of the lapin variety of cherries and we should be into the stellas just in time for the market on Saturday (9 to 1 at the Saanich Fairgrounds). Just in case you were wondering what the difference between the two cherry varieties is, the stellas are a meatier cherry while the lapins are juicer, both are full of flavour.
If you are wondering if the farm stand is open there will be lots of white and red cherry signs around the neighbourhood or feel free to give us a call at 250 652 5227. If no one is around to take your call (probably because we are all out in the field) please leave a message and we will get back to you ASAP.
Last weekend we sold out of the black currant jam at the market so we will be cooking up several batches this afternoon. So don’t fret, there will be plenty of fresh black currant jam at the market tomorrow as well as delicious pastries and other baked goodies made with our black currants by our new partner, The Roost Farm Centre. We can’t wait to see you at the market tomorrow!
