You may have noticed the flags in front of the Main Hall at the Saanich Fairgrounds flying at half-mast recently. They were lowered in honour of Ken Travis, a beloved and longtime member of the North and South Saanich Agricultural Society, who recently past away. He was also a member of a group of Central Saanich residents that helped start the Peninsula Country Market in the early 1990s and was a key supporter. Every year market volunteers gathered at Ken and Margaret’s house after the final market of the season to celebrate.
A celebration of Ken’s life will be held at the Saanich Fairground from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, after the close of the final market of this season.
