The cherries are ripening quickly. We have just started picking our lapin variety, which is the earlier of our two varieties. It will be a slow start over the next few days until they are fully ripe. That means we will have a limited number of cherries available on the farm stand until we start picking in full swing. We are hoping to have lots for the market this Saturday at the Saanich Fairgrounds (from 9 to 1).
We also started picking black currants this week. They are huge this year, you won’t be disappointed! The rest of the currant varieties will be following shortly so don’t miss out on them while they are fresh. They will go quickly especially in this heat.
Since we are so busy in the field we don’t always have a chance to be on the computer, although we try to check the email early every morning. So if you want to get the latest updates about the farm and berries please follow us on Twitter (@SilverRillBerry) or if you are not on Twitter you can follow our updates under the Field Buzz column on the right side of this website. We are updating regularly from the fields.
You can also give us a call at 250-652-5227. If we are away from the phone, we’re probably out in the fields so please don’t hesitate to leave a message, we’ll call you right back. We look forward to hearing from you.
