Spring has sprung

Spring has sprung and we’re getting excited around the farm.

There is lots in the works for this growing season but in the meantime, we still have our delicious Black Currant Concentrate available to hold you over until our fresh berries are ready.

Holiday Craft Fairs

The market season is over but don’t worry, your Favourite Farm Girl will be at a number of winter craft fairs in the coming months.

First up is the On the Ridge Craft Fair on Saturday, Nov. 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It takes place at the Cordova Bay United Church Hall, 813 Claremont Ave. Along with your Favourite Farm Girl there will be a number of other vendors with high-quality items as well as afternoon tea and luncheon options. Brad Prevedoros will be performing live on the guitar. Admission is $2 (for charity) and the hall is wheelchair accessible.

On Sunday, Nov. 18, we’ll be at the 27th annual Highlands Winter Craft Fair from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. This craft fair has multiple locations filled with fantastic, high-end local vendors. Make sure to stop by the Highlands Community Hall, 729 Finlayson Arm Rd., and the Caleb Pike Heritage Park, 1589 Millstream Rd. – where your Favourite Farm Girl will be. Admission is free .

We will also be at the Christmas in the Manger Craft Fair, running from Saturday, Nov. 24 to Sunday, Nov. 25, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. This show is now juried and features more than 140 high end vendors in both the RCMP Barn (with your Favourite Farm Girl) and the Main Hall at the Saanich Fairgrounds. New this year is a petting zoo and gingerbread house to keep the kids entertained while you shop. Admission is $2.

Stay tuned, we’ll be adding a few more locations to this list as more dates are confirmed.

Crop Update

We had a fantastic season and thank you to everyone that came out to the farm during the summer months.

If you didn’t make it out or catch us at one of the markets, don’t worry, we have lots of frozen berries available all winter. We’ll also be at the Peninsula Country Market up to and including Thanksgiving weekend.

And don’t worry, we have a supply of our Black Currant Concentrate as well as assorted jams and jellies to get you through cold season!

Market Update

Don’t miss us at the Island Mavins Handmade and Vintage Market this weekend!

This event takes place at the Boganes Farm, 2734 Island View Road, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday and from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $3 per day or $5 for the weekend.

Don’t miss tons of great vendors, including your Favourite Farm Girl!

We’ll also be at the Peninsula Country Market at the Saanich Fairgrounds on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.


Crop Update

We’re picking fresh fruit like crazy so don’t wait to call the farm to place an order.

We have:

  • Currants (Black, Red, White)
  • Gooseberries (Green, Red)
  • Cherries (Lapins, Stellas, Sour)
  • Josta Berries (a cross between a black currant and a gooseberry)

We also have frozen berries available.

Andrew’s Crop Update

Andrew’s been berry busy this season and rents a couple parcels of farm land where he also grows his own berries and produce. Here’s some of his items we have available at the farm:

  • Russian Red Garlic
  • Strawberries
  • Raspberries

The signs are out and the cherries are ripe! The stand will be open daily during cherry season while supplies last – just keep an eye out for our cherry signs around Stelly’s Cross Road and in Central Saanich.

We also have a limited supply of sour cherries so don’t wait, call the farm (250-652-5227) right away to place an order.
